Hola, everybody.
This is my first blog here.
My friend Donald Miles has asked me to write a blog about my participation in his Cinco de Mayo Project.
So, here I am.
The Cinco de Mayo project will be a great event that will take place in Austin, Texas,in the year 2012. I am honored to belong to the board of directors of this project.
It will consist of several events like a reenactors parade, a ball in 19th century style, and best of all, a reenactment of the Battle of Puebla, key to the independence of Mexico.
Our goal is to educate the public about what really happened on May Fifth, or Cinco de Mayo, and why it's celebrated.
Hopefully I will be able to help make this huge project a reality.
Right now I'm working on getting Mexican celebrities in Puerto Rico get involved in it. I also am contacting a taylor who may make many of the Mexican uniforms needed for the battle, and also the beautiful gowns to be worn by the ladies who will attend our ball. Other tasks will be to study the role of the soldaderas in the Mexican Revolution, and finally, find information on the dances of the 19th century.
Lots of work, but really worth it.
I will report my progress in this blog, so stay tuned!
